Rearrange this 5 letter NSW town to protect yourself.                 I'm off to bed now.

Goodnight Rumpy.

Good morning Gussy.

Are there any changes required ? Guyra -> guard is the closest I can get.

Good morning Rumpy. There are no changes of letters, only rearranging of the five. It creates something you can use to protect yourself.

Certainly. If one was menaced by any of the above one would be glad of this. The town's name is a female one, and the protection is Middle English and rather different from its modern version which adds a letter which could mean one is in danger and even makes it a place one could go shopping!

Thanks Gussy. Replacement of three adjacent letters with two in this NSW town could turn it into a vegetable.

Sorry, I'm going to bed now to try to get some snooze time before midnight.  There's usually some people around here who let off illegal fireworks around midnight so I need to be available to comfort Billy.  He has already been trembling although I didn't hear a thing and he won't go outside  right now either.

There are only four eight letter veggies as far as I can think,  beetroot, capsicum, cucumber and eggplant.  A quick glance through didn't provide anything useful.  More next year!!    Meantime I wish you all the best for 2018.  May it be a good year for you.

One of your vegetables is correct.

Good morning Rumpy. Did you watch the fireworks? I didn't but had to comfort Billy from the time I went to bed. Kincumber/Cucumber? A neat one!

Good morning Gussy, Kincumber is correct, so over to you. I watched the fireworks briefly, but I get bored with such things these days as they all seem the same and I was in need of some sleep at the time.

Thanks Rumpy. I know what you mean. I can't help thinking what could be done with all that money. This eight letter NSW town looks angrily at anyone who substitutes one letter for two.

The idea is right but the town is not, sorry.  There are too many letters.
