House prices 'falling by over $1,000 a week' in Sydney and Melbourne.

Do you read this as de-inflation or common sense returning to the market?   :|

Housing was so overpriced people couldn't afford to buy them. The prices then have nowhere to go but down.

Just the normal operation of the market. :)

The head of CNN has slammed US President Donald Trump for his media attacks after police intercepted suspected pipe bombs sent to the network, former US president Barack Obama, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and other public figures.

It’s no surprise that Trump has open his fat mouth in an inappropriate manner in response to this act of terrorism.

How many times have we heard that proposal ?

It won't happen in my lifetime. (Not that there is much of that left).

Oh sorry Gussy, that was a bit tongue in cheek I guess. No one is getting any younger and I'm approaching the three score years and ten !

I shouldn't be complaining , as far as I know I'm healthy for my years. :)

My comment was more about that rail project, it gets bought up every 10 years or so and I doubt many of us alive today over 40 will see it.

Thanks for your concern.

The NSW Government tried to do this in selected national parks in NSW about 10 years ago, but there was such a public outcry, that the idea was shelved.  You'd think that the Qld Government would have learned from their ALP colleagues in NSW that this is not a good idea.

Some may even reach the South Australian and Victorian coastlines.

The family didn't appear interested in the place until the court case.

I think that's besides the point.  It's a question of inheritance rights, not level of interest.  It's not as if the squatter was desperate to find a place to live, he was doing it up to rent out to others and make a profit.  I'm sure that the family would win the case on appeal, but they may have to pay the squatter back the money he spent in renovating the property.

It has been stated the family didn't know until last year that the house had been left to them. As I see it he had no right to enter the house in the first place, whether the back door was unlocked or not, so he was, and is, an intruder and a thief. He was astute enough to know about squatters' rights so he was well aware of what he was doing when he renovated the place then proceeded to let the house and make money from it. It was his choice to renovate it so I do not see why he should be recompensed for that. Instead he should have to give the money he made from renting to the relatives of the deceased owner. The judge's ruling is grossly unfair and I hope the relatives appeal and are successful.

Does the thought of drinking warm beer upset him that much?
