From my experience, this language problem occurs in most (if not all) Australian universities today.

Another dysfunctional system that the Conservatives have given us.

They seem to know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

This precedent was actually set up under a Hawke Labor Government, when John Dawkins was Education Minister. This was when student fees were first re-introduced and universities were allowed to charge higher fees for overseas students. It's just been accentuated by successive governments on both sides of politics. The reintroduction of fees was one of the biggest mistakes the Hawke Labor Government ever made because we now have the university mess we're in today.

Those firefighters in Queensland deserve a round of applause for their outstanding service to the community.

What a mess they've had to deal with.

Adani mine and rail to go ahead.  Looks like they're in a hurry to start before there's a change in Federal Govt.

Activism in schools.

Should kids be allowed to skip school to protest on climate change or anything else ?

In my view if they are serious about protesting, what's wrong with the weekend ?

I agree with Patch.

I haver no problem with them protesting on a school day.  It's caught the attention of the media and the politicians by doing so, perhaps more than if was on a weekend.

Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has launched a spectacular intervention in the preselection process of Liberal backbencher Craig Kelly, urging party officials not to "capitulate" to threats from the conservative MP.

Mr Turnbull has also encouraged his successor Scott Morrison to go to the polls shortly after the long summer break, arguing he and the then treasurer had been planning to call an election for March 2 before Mr Turnbull was ousted from the nation's top job.

Delaying the election is only postponing the inevitable.

Get it over with ScoMo !

Despite the talking up of the economy by Morrison and co, under the surface things aren't as rosy as they seem.
